Confirmation is the Sacrament that “confirms” that the candidates have each freely made a conscious decision, to acknowledge and continue their journey with God and to develop their relationship with Him. The candidates are presented to the bishop, given the chosen name of a patron Saint, anointed with chrism, and receive the Spiritual Gifts of the Holy Spirit. These gifts will help them to live out their commitment to God. A Bishop is the usual minister of Confirmation, but he can delegate that authority to the local pastor when he deems it appropriate.
In our parish, religious education students in the 9th and 10th grades participate in a two-year program of preparation for the Sacrament. The program includes both class work and community service elements. The dates and place of Confirmation are set by the Regional Bishop of our area.
Adults who have not received the Sacrament but wish to do so are invited to call the Administrator for guidance in making plans for instruction.
