Saint Jude Parish is a community of God's people united by faith in the Risen Christ. The Eucharist is the center of our lives. We are faithful to the Gospel teachings and Catholic Tradition. We respect and nuture family life. We value the dignity and uniqueness of every person. We share our gifts through works of loving kindness. We are a sign of God's love in the world. We rely on the Holy Spirit to guide us in our mission.
Saint Jude Parish was established by direction of the Arch Diocese of Boston in 1949 in the Warrendale section of Waltham, Massachusetts. The first mass was held in the Willow Street Fire Station. The first mass held in Saint Jude Church took place in the church basement on July 22, 1951. The upper church opened on March 29, 1952 when it was dedicated by the Most Reverend Richard Cardinal Cushing.

Another milestone in parish history was made by the completion of Saint Jude Elementary School. Father McCabe acquired the properties at 175 and 177 Main Street, Waltham, and ground was broken for a new school in September 1964. In 1965, 75 pupils enrolled in the first and second grades under the tutelage of the Notre Dame sisters. Formal dedication took place on October 28, 1966. The school served the community for over 50 years, but unfortunately closed in 2019.
FATHER WILLIAM LEONARD, RETIRES 2002 – 2018
The Saint Jude community joined together to celebrate the retirement of Father William Leonard. After close to 16 years as the Pastor of Saint Jude Parish, Father Bill celebrated his last mass on July 8, 2018. We are grateful for his service to our community and we wish him all the best in his retirement.
