The word Sacrament means “a sign of the sacred”. The Catholic Church administers and celebrates seven Sacraments as signs or symbols of God’s grace and love. They are intended to strengthen our spiritual life and deepen our relationship with God. The foundations of these Sacraments can be found in the ministry and teachings of Jesus as he travelled the county-side with his Apostles.
The seven Sacraments can be grouped into three distinct categories:
INITIATION: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist
HEALING: Reconciliation and Sacrament of the Sick
SERVICE: Marriage and Holy Orders
